What Your SEO Strategy Needs (Part 2)
In the previous post, I talked about the importance of mind mapping tools and project management tools. Today, I continue the 2nd part of the series and discuss further what your SEO strategy needs. Keep in mind that NOT all SEO strategies are the same, but there are the basic essentials.
Knowing Your Audience
- If you are done studying the company, then, the next part is knowing its audience. You have to know what the users want, what the users are searching, and what motivates the users to buy.
- Here are some guidelines that you can delve into:
- Ask your audience through surveys and polls.
- Find out where they hangout so you can easily interact with them.
- Do they like email marketing? Would subscribe to your email list?
- An email list is highly recommended in order to grow your audience. However, some people are sensitive towards it. So, make sure you don’t overwhelm them with multiple emails throughout the week.
- Develop an email marketing that caters to their wants. If they prefer a weekly email digest, then, don’t pester them with daily updates.
- What do they know?
- If your audiences are not tech savvy, it’s useless to discuss highly technical subject matters. They will not understand the jargons used, and it will be too much for them to grasp. However, if they are industry professionals, go ahead and talk about the ins and out of SEO.
- Are you targeting consumers or businesses?
- Who are your potential clients? Are you selling directly to consumers or are you selling to other businesses? Know the differences between business to consumer (B2C) and business to business (B2B.) Formulate a strategy that fits your chosen audience.

Distinct Goals
- It’s not enough for you to have a goal. You need to be more specific than that. Each goal should have a time limit.
- Know how one goal fits the bigger picture. Be particular in choosing the metric tools and performance indicators you are going to choose.
- Why are the littlest details such as metrics important? Because you would not want your expenses be larger than your income. The bottom line is that everyone should unanimously agree on what metrics to use. One slight change can cost you a decrease of web traffic, site ranking, and so on.
- I just want to point out the importance of goals that focuses on the completion of particular tasks like, for example, in terms of inward marketing and SEO.
- I believe in specifying goals, measuring the progress, and accomplishing them in a specific time period. If needed, adjust them to fit the end goal, which is developing an effective SEO strategy.
- When you have distinct knowledge of what you want to achieve, you can actually find ways to improve instead of just merely manipulating the stats and search engines.
