A NEW Period for Google Search (Part 1)

Various and vital changes are continuously developing at Google and those are the things that we do not notice. They were silently working on it.

What is more recent is the fact that there will be less search. In the future, anticipate a lot more crucial changes to happen. Here are the changes you need to know that will affect SEO:

GOOGLE DISCOVER

It is the new and improved Google Feed. This presents you content that you might like. Whether be it’s about your favorite sports team or news site, Google Discover will suggest topics that may appeal to you. The personalized feed of Google Discover is based on each user’s past browsing history.

It’s not entirely new as Google Discover has been around since 2016. Since Google is continuously growing community, they made major changes last October 2018. Because of the changes Google has added other important features such as:

  1. More content, both videos and images.
  2. Grouped the feed results through the use of headers.
  3. Users can now identify if they want more content that is identical to the one they just viewed.
  4. Relevant content in contrast with just giving new content.
  5. Lastly, Google asserts that the recommendation of content are personalized.

To be honest, Google Discover is NOT the first of its kind. One proof is the fact that social media feeds are already ruled by content recommendation. The content of Youtube, for example, is more on suggestions. In fact, 70% of its users spend watching the recommended videos.

Who knows what will happen to Google Discover? It is doubtful that Google Discover will reach the 70% of YouTube. Let us all wait and see.

GOOGLE ASSISTANT

Silent but helpful – those are words to describe Google Assistant.

It has been around since 2017. Despite its usability, most Android users still think that it is just a better version of Google Now. Well, in truth, it is.

As it grows, Google Assistant proves how users can decrease the dependency on actual search. Google Assistant can now do the following tasks:

  • Scan the entire World Wide Web.
  • Alter the device settings.
  • Can present Google account data.
  • Does timetable of alarms and events.

However, the most important change is the ability to communicate in two-way interactions, letting the user acquire relevant results even if the user is not looking at the actual search results. Google Assistant will inform them of the best possible result.

The colossally essential shift serves as a prelude for Google Express. It is a way of adding products into a user’s shopping cart and buying these items through the help of Google Assistant.

Not only that, Google Assistant can also support the use of Google Duplex. This ain’t available yet, but Google Duplex is really helpful in scheduling appointments. Through Google Assistant, appointments will be made in behalf of the user.

So, when a lot of users choose Google Assistant, it would mean lesser use for Google search. If most businesses need to adjust, they should focus on the following:

  • Modify their SEO approach to know the behavior of their users.
  • Capitalize on Google Assistant and other developing technologies.

More changes on Google Search will be presented in Part 2.
